2025 - Anthony’s Nose Ascent Trail

2,500+ volunteer hours on the Appalachian Trail

The section of the Appalachian Trail that ascends from Route 9D towards the overlook at Anthony’s Nose feels like a 500-vertical-foot staircase. This outdoor path brings you to one of the nicest overlooks in the Hudson Valley, a sprawling, rocky clearing that has plenty of nice places to take it all in.

Over the years, the “staircase” leading to the viewing point became seriously eroded with countless social trails further contributing to serious erosion, destruction of the vegetation, and hiking hazards. The Rovers, in collaboration with the New York -New Jersey Trail Conference, took on a two-year project to remediate two sections of the problem section. In 2025, the Jolly Rovers Trail Crew devoted over 2,500 volunteer hours to the project!
