“A section of Appalachian Trail along the Haywood County border with Tennessee has been repaired after it was damaged in a “microburst” weather event last year.
But it was no easy fix — volunteers and professional trail builders winched, hauled, pushed, shoved, and manhandled 70 huge stone slabs into place, taking over 2,000 person-hours to complete.

Members of the Georgia Appalachian Trail Club and the Jolly Rovers trail crew out of New York state both helped out, and both crews are experts at using rock to create long-lasting, sustainable trail features.”
