Major Welch Trail
The Major Welch Trail is home to some of the most outstanding views Bear Mountain State Park has to offer and is often hiked as part of a loop in conjunction with the Appalachian Trail there. In partnership with the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference, the Rovers were invited to help relocate a lower section of the trail from 2013-2014 that had severe erosion issues. This section of the relocation involved the quarrying and installation of 50 stone steps over two large work trip weekends and several smaller splinter trip weekends. A total of 36 crew members volunteered a total of 1,100 hours to accomplish this.
